Michael G. Polanick, 91, of Boyers Road, Harrisville, died at 3:46 p.m. Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 28, 1918, in Homestead, he was the son of Alex and Vanalisa Polanick. Polanick graduated from Homestead High School and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Grove City, after previously working at Cooper-Bessemer in Grove City. He was a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Forestville. He enjoyed doing stone masonry work and writing books. He was an Army Air Force World War II veteran, serving as a radio operator. He was a prisoner of war after being shot down over Berlin, Germany. He is survived by his wife, Amy L. Polanick, who he married in June 1947; two daughters, Laurel C. Levinson and her husband, Bradley, of Zelienople and Maria H. Reder and her husband, John, of Wexford; one son, Michael C. Polanick of Boyers; six grandchildren; and one sister, Pauline Meleshenko, and her husband, Alex, of West Homestead. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. Polanick - Friends of Michael G. Polanick, who died Thursday, March 25, 2010, will be received from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday at Jamison Funeral Home, 117 North Main Street, Harrisville. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Forestville with the Rev. Kevin G. Poeking officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
