Michael D. Smith

Michael D. Smith, 66, of Franklin, passed away at 7:25 P.M. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.

Born in Franklin on August 21, 1958, Mike was a son of Barbara D. Barnes Smith and the late F. Keith Smith.

Mike was a 1976 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. He then attended New Castle School of Trades where he earned his certification in Welding. Mike was a boilermaker and also worked at the former Joy Manufacturing.

Mike enjoyed hockey, hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with his beloved dog, Kasey. Mike was the life of the party and was always ready with a good story and a joke.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Ryder Smith; four siblings, Keith Smith and his wife Lynn, Shelley Davis, Kristy Baker and Kelly Emerson and eight nieces and nephews, Melanie, Bryan, Rachel, Trent, Lindsey, Nick, Megan, and Nate; and many great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother-in-law, Ron "Grease" Baker.

There will be no visitation.

A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.
