Patricia Demaine David

January 4, 1937 — May 10, 2010

Patricia deMaine David, 73 of 32 Carriage Lane, Grove City passed into eternal life at 8:45 A.M. Monday, May 10, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Davis was born January 4, 1937 in Cincinnati, OH to Dr. Philip B. and Natalie Carpenter deMaine. She grew up in the Akron area.
She was awarded the Buchtel High School Womanhood Award for outstanding qualities as a young woman upon graduating from high school. Mrs. David later graduated with honors from Bryn Athyn College in 1958 and taught school for one year prior to being married.
Her Husband, Joseph S. David whom she married on June 8, 1958 in Bryn Athyn Cathedral survives.
She was a stay at home mother until her children were all in school, at which point she began teaching for Franklin Area School District, where she retried in 1997. It was a career she truly enjoyed and had a special affection for her students and their parents.
Mrs. David and her husband moved from Franklin to Grove City in 2002, when she became active in the Library Bridge Group, serving as coordinator for several years.
She was also active in the Sandycreek PTA; Franklin Public Library Board; Wednesday Club; and the Grove City Literacy Club.
A lifelong Swedenborgian, Mrs. David served on many church projects and activities. For years, she coordinated its annual camp, Jacob?s Creek Family Camp in Laurelville PA. She served on the board of directors of the General Church of the New Jerusalem.
Her religion and her family were the center of her life. Every year, between Christmas and New Years, all 32 members of her family gathered for an annual reunion for three days of fun which ended with a short worship Service led by her husband. The reunion has created a host of happy memories and a link among the cousins that will endure.
Besides her husband, surviving are five children; Tom David and his wife Rachel of Grafton Mass.; Stephen David and his wife Caroline of Pittsburgh; Brian David and his wife Rachel of New Castle; Julie Uber and her husband James of Pittsburgh? and Susan Dwyer and her husband Dr. Owen Dwyer of Indianapolis, Ind.
Her 20 grandchildren were a great source of joy in her life, including Richard David of Baltimore, MD; Gregory, Christopher, and Mark David of Grafton, Mass.; Natalie David of Philadelphia; Michael, Jessica and Anwen David all of Pittsburgh; Hanna, Luke and Samuel David and Corey and Matthew Conway of New Castle and Grove City; and Fiona, Jack, and Meredith Dwyer of Indianapolis, Ind.
Other survivors includes a sister, Julie Pendleton of Bryn Athyn; two brothers Dr. James deMaine and his wife Lourdes of Seattle, Washington and John deMaine and his wife Karen of Charlotte, N.C. and numerous nieces and Nephews.
A resurrection service to celebrate Mrs. David?s life will be held at 4 P.M. Monday May 25, 2010 in Pittsburgh New Church, 299 LeRoi Rd. in the Point Breeze area of Pittsburgh.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. Sunday May 23, 2010 in The Huff Chapel Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin, PA.
