Pauline Elizabeth Marczak Mason, 88 of 610 Plumer Ave., Miller Park, Franklin died at 2:25 P.M Thursday September 22, 2011 at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.
Born August 8, 1923 in Franklin she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Helen Szlenga Marczak.
She was a 1940 graduate of Franklin High School. She graduated with a Bachelor of Art?s Degree from Clarion University with a double major in French and Math. Pauline was selected for the Who?s Who in American Colleges maintaining a 4.0 average while raising her children.
Upon graduation from Clarion, she enrolled at Case Western Reserve University where she earned a Master?s Degree in Library Science.
Pauline went on to a career as Chief of Library Services at the Veteran?s Administration Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Upon her retirement, living in Richmond, VA, she loved watching her three nationally ranked granddaughters play tennis at various tournaments throughout the country. Pauline also enjoyed playing bridge and, as president, directing her condominium association.
On April 27, 1945 she married Homer Rhea Mason at Paris Island, NC. ?Joe? preceded her in death on April 2, 1958.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by Cheryl Margini Mason, daughter-in-law, Michael R. Mason, grandson as well as two brothers ?Satch? Marczak, Houston TX and Frank Marczak, Venice FL.
She is survived by two sons; Steven A. Mason of Franklin and Thomas R. Mason and his wife Lori of Richmond, VA; two brothers Joseph Marzak of Santa Rosa, CA and Richard Marczak of Oil City; one sister Helen Andres of Franklin; three grandchildren Melissa Mason Robinson and her husband Cris, Jaime Mason Etheridge, and Katherine Mason May and her husband Justin; seven great grandchildren Chase, Ella, and Mia Robinson, Avery, Maddox, and Finley May, Meredith Etheridge and many nieces, nephews, and their children.
Family and friends will be received from 11:00 A.M. -12:30 P.M. Saturday in the Huff Chapel Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin. A blessing service will follow at 12:30 P.M. Saturday in the funeral home with Deacon Richard O?Polka of St. Patrick?s Church officiating.
Interment will be in St. Patrick?s Cemetery.
