R. Dale Power, 91 of 103 N. 13th St. Franklin went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 5:20 A.M. Thursday August 9, 2012 at The Caring Place.
Born May 23, 1921 in New Brighton, PA he was a son of the late Roy Emmit and Lillian Dale Frick Power.
Dale graduated from New Brighton High School in 1938.
He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII.
Mr. Power worked at Curtis-Wright ? Prop. Division in Beaver before going to work for G.C. Murphy Co. as a Manager Trainee. He started in the Ellwood City store and worked in numerous stores before being named manager in the Etna store. He served in Beaver and was transferred to Franklin in 1972. He was employed for 41 years at G.C. Murphy Co. retiring in 1986.
Mr. Power was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Franklin and served on the church council and also as an Usher. More recently he was a member and attended Good Hope Lutheran Church in Oil City.
Dale enjoyed walking and could be seen often walking his dog until he suffered a stroke in 1997.
On May 23, 1943 he married the former Dorothy A. Smith who preceded him in death on March 22, 2003.
Surviving is one son, Dale F. Power and his wife Cindi of Franklin; a daughter, Dorothy A. Bailey and her husband Giles of Franklin; five grandchildren, Joseph A. Cardinal Jr. of Pittsburgh, Michael E. Herr of Seneca, Israel Power and his wife Heather of Franklin, Jessica J. Bailey Ross and her husband Jacob of Penfield, and Hannah M. Bailey of Franklin; six great grandchildren, Anthony J. Cardinal of Atlanta, GA, Ashley N. Meyer and her husband Justin of Hopewell, Zachary J. Lokey of Pittsburgh, Courtney Alcorn, Grace Power, Alexandria Power all of Franklin and Brady Herr of Van.
Also surviving is Jerry Peterson of Franklin, who was like a second son to Dale.
In addition to his parents and wife, Dale was preceded in death by his brother, Rev. Donald B. Power and a daughter Diane L. McClelland.
Family and friends are welcome Friday from 5:00 ? 8:00 P.M. at Huff Chapel Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 ? 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Holly A. Davis, Rector of St. John?s Episcopal Church, officiating.
Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
