Richard A. Beith

Richard A. Beith, 90, of Franklin, died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Sugar Creek Station.

A son of William and Ethel Abel Beith he was born in Franklin on February 27, 1923. He was a graduate of Franklin High School.

A veteran of World War II Mr. Beith served in the US Army in the European Theatre of Operations and was also stationed in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska during WWII.

In 1951 he became a partner with C.B.Dolson to create Dolson & Beith Real Estate and Insurance Agency. He bought out his partner in 1953 and operated the business until his retirement in 1991.

Active in community affairs Dick had been a member of the Franklin Elks Lodge, Franklin Moose and Franklin Eagles, Tri-County Insurance Agency Association. He had served on the Board of Directors of the Franklin YMCA and had been a past president of the Venango County Realtors Association and the Franklin Rotary Club.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Franklin and had served as a trustee.

Dick enjoyed golfing, fishing and wintering in Tequesta, Florida.

On June 27, 1946 he married the former Marian Phinney she died on November 8, 1979. He married Dorothy Hill Meury on February 1, 1982 and she preceded him in death on May 9, 2008.

Surviving are a daughter Nancy Walker and her husband Stephen of Franklin, a son Richard T. Beith and his wife Kathy of Franklin; four grandchildren Laura Holt, Mathew Beith, Jaime Beith and Haley Walker and a brother Jack Beith of St. Helen, MI.

In addition to his parents and wives he was preceded in death by two brothers William and Thomas Beith and three sisters Linda Hess, Violet Stellar and infant Helen.

Family and friends welcome Wednesday October 2, 2013 from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin.

A memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will be made in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens
