Ronald L. Walters, 88 of Rocky Grove passed away at 4:30 A.M. on Friday October 25, 2013 at The Caring Place in Franklin.
Born May 21, 1925 in Franklin he was the son of the late Clarence ?Kelly? and Florence Bell Walters.
He attended Rocky Grove Elementary School grades 1-6 before moving to Wilmington NC in 1937. He graduated there from New Hanover High School in 1943.
In 1943 he returned to Franklin and enlisted in the US Army Air Force. While serving with the 8th Air Force in England during WWII, he met his wife to be and they became engaged in 1945.
He owned and operated a barber shop in Rocky Grove for many years. Mr. Walters also worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the traffic department for 22 years retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church where he served several times as an Elder, Deacon, and Trustee.
Ron was active in several Masonic Organizations.
While active and interested in most sports, Ron?s love for his family and home were most important.
On November 22, 1946 he married the former Doreen Field at the Manse of the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church and she preceded him in death on November 4, 2011.
Surviving are three sons, Ronald and his wife Marge of Norwich, Connecticut and his children, Ron, Tracy, and Jamie Lee, Donald and his wife Vicky of Knox and his two children, Vanessa and Lauren, and Scott and his wife Debra of Franklin and their two children, Scott and Kelly and eight great grandchildren.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday November 2, 2013 at the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church 321 Rocky Grove Ave. Franklin, PA 16323 with the Rev. Sue Nageotte, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Franklin Cemetery.
