Rose Jean McPherson Chalot, 91, of Franklin passed away at 3:45 PM on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at The Caring Place.
Born on January 12, 1927 in Franklin, PA, Rose was the daughter of Edgar L. and Frances Tourtellott McPherson.
She graduated from Franklin High School in 1944. Rose went on to work for the James Lumber Company for many years.
Rose married William F. Chalot on February 17, 1946 in Jamestown, New York.
Rose was a member of First United Methodist Church all of her life where she served on the Board of Trustees, the Administrative Board and in other capacities. She was active in Meals on Wheels for many years, and even served as the Program Chairman for 3 years. Rose was a Board member of the Red Cross, and was active in Bloodmobile for many years. She also served the Venango Nurses Association, and was on the original Hospice Board. She belonged to the Franklin Hospital Auxiliary, helping in the snack shop and on the cart for many years. She and her husband were active in Marriage Encounter, serving as Financial Couple for many years while in Franklin. She moved to the Carolina's in 1983. After moving she served with Meals on Wheels in Asheville, NC and Greenville, SC. Rose retired to Anderson, SC in 1988. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Anderson.
She is survived by two sons, Andrew M. (Reni) and W. Jeffrey (Galena); three grandsons and one granddaughter, Benjamin J. (Talley), Andrew J. (Amy), Levi W. and Rachel W Chalot; two great grandsons and one great granddaughter, Wyatt, Jamison and Peyton; one step granddaughter, Mrs. Jeffrey (Melissa) Searles; one step grandson Christopher Stanonis; one step great grandson, Nathan J (Alexa) Hackett; and two great-great step grandsons, Spencer and Declan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sisters and one brother: Catherine A., Rachel E., and Edgar McPherson, Florence Graham, Martha Mong and Joan Beggs.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 312 W. Park Street, Franklin.
A memorial service for the family will be held on Saturday, September 15 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Nelson Thayer, a retired Methodist Church Pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
