Ruth Ann Hays

Ruth A. Hays, age 69 of Franklin, passed away at UPMC Northwest on Thursday, November 3, 2016. Ruth was born at home in Petroleum Center on January 3, 1947 to the late Harry and Jane Caldwell Swanson. Ruth had been employed at Oil City Hospital for a number of years working as an aide.

She loved taking care of the elderly and disabled as her health permitted. Ruth loved to crochet, loved to read, and spending time with her children, as well as going to yard sales with her sister "Sis". She enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow and hearing about what they were up to.

Ruth is survived by her four children, Krista K. Borger and her husband Dave of Franklin, Bobbi Jo Lowrie and her husband Bob of Franklin, Lori L. Winger and Fiancée Jerry Lowers of Parker, and Rob D. Winger of Franklin, nine grandchildren Jonathan M. Gibson, Tessa J. Borger, Hannah L. Borger, Brandon S. Winger, Cody R. Lowrie, Deserea S. Winger, Scott Cozad, Jamison D. Winger, Andrea S. Seeker, two great-grandchildren Madelynn Winger and Waelynn Cozad, two sisters Helen Smith of Cambridge Springs and Eva Crocker and her husband Don of Titusville, and a half-brother, numerous nieces and nephews, a special friend Betty L. Tobin who would comfort Ruth in her times of need, and so many grand-dogs that her daughter would tease that she had more of than grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Ruth was preceded in death by her sister Harriet "Sis" Shuffstall and Harriet's twin brother Harry "Sonny" Swanson, two half siblings, and a nephew Rod "Bink" Swanson.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc.
It was Ruth's wishes that there be no public visitation.
A celebration of life with her children and grandchildren will be held at a later date.
