Ruth E. ?Betty? Boyd, 91 of Seneca formerly of Franklin passed away at 4:12 P.M. on Wednesday April 4, 2012 at UMPC Northwest in Seneca.
Born January 6, 1921 in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Philip and Goldie Mealy Yarnell.
Betty graduated high school and cosmetology school in Oil City. Early on she moved to the Washington D.C. area and worked as a beautician. Later upon returning to Franklin, she owned and operated Betty?s Beauty Shop. She was lastly employed as a residential aid at Polk Center.
Betty was an avid sewer and quilter, spending every possible Wednesday with the Bethel Homemakers. She also greatly enjoyed fellowship and fitness at Curves, beginning her exercise program in her mid-80?s. Betty was a volunteer at the Franklin Hospital and delivered meals for Meals on Wheels.
She was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin. Her church family was very important to her.
Betty loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In 1947 Betty married James Utz and he preceded her in death in 1957. She then married Willis Boyd in May of 1978 and he preceded her in death on October 22, 2008.
Surviving is a daughter, Linda Baker and her husband Roger of Oil City; three grandchildren, Erin Lawson and her husband James of Alexendria, VA, Benjamin Baker and his wife Joni of Rockland, Elizabeth Omecinski and her husband Ken of Mayport; one brother, Kenneth Yarnell and his wife Helen of Franklin, two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Turner of Oil City, and Mrs. Norma Jean Wood and her husband Curtis of Franklin, one sister-in-law, Betty Yarnell of Washington state, several nieces and nephews, and four great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Betty was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Yarnell.
Friends will be received from 10:00 A.M. ? 2:00 P.M. Saturday in the Huff Chapel Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin where funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the funeral home with the Rev. David Janz, Pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin, Officiating.
Interment will be made at Franklin Cemetery.
