Ruth Stone Ramage DeWoody, 87, a long-time Reno resident, passed away Monday October 15, 2012 at the Caring Place in Franklin. She had suffered a stroke on Memorial Day of 2008 and never fully recovered.
Ruth was born on December 6, 1924 in Oil City, PA, the daughter of the late Bertha Elizabeth and Robert Harold Stone. She was preceded in death by two of her siblings: Harold Stone and Doris Swasta; first husband, Edmond Ramage; son, Samuel Young Ramage and step-son, Keith DeWoody.
Mrs. DeWoody worked most of her adult life for the Wanango Country Club where she excelled in a number of positions and proved herself an invaluable asset, in addition to being a club member. She was a life long member of the Business and Professional Women's Foundation (BPW) and derived great joy by hosting an annual Pool Party for its members. Also, she was a dedicated volunteer for the Winifred Tompkins Guild and a long time member of the Reno United Methodist Church.
Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who touched so many hearts with her kindness and generosity. Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Clyde DeWoody; son Edmond Ramage Jr; step-sons Dennis DeWoody, Gene DeWoody and his wife Billie; daughter-in-law Marie DeWoody; seven grandchildren: Andy, Adam, Christina, Joe, Jessica, Becky and Josh; six great grandchildren and her brother Clyde Stone of California. Great friends Ted & Anita Wolbert, and others too numerous to mention, shared many laughs and good times throughout her life. She will be dearly missed by all.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Reno United Methodist Church with Pastor Alice Jean Parker officiating. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service.
Inurnment will take place in the Mausoleum at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
