Sandra “Susie” Fidler, 87, of Rocky Grove died on January 21, 2025 at home, where she had resided for the past 65 years.
Born in Franklin on January 23, 1937, she was the beloved daughter of the late Carl B. and Marguerite McQuaide.
Susie was a 1956 graduate of Franklin High School.
She was a lifetime member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
Susie worked at the Rocky Grove School Cafeteria and retired after 30 years in 1999. She was known by students as “The Lunch Lady”. She loved thrift store shopping, playing cards with her many great friends, and volunteering at the St. John’s food pantry.
She was married on February 15, 1957 to Donald E. Fidler in St. John’s Episcopal Church, and he survives. This year would have marked their 68th wedding anniversary.
In addition to her husband, Susie is survived by son Timothy Fidler of Jacksonville, FL, daughter Tina Fike and her partner John Knoch of Pittsburgh. Five grandchildren; Kristen Thompson and Brittany Fike of Franklin, Jordan Fidler, Jason Chancey and his wife Michelle, and Michael Chancey, all of Jacksonville FL. Three great grandchildren; Raelynn, Hanley, and Clayton. Five nieces; Jan Myers, Jenny Latham, Rita Withers, Nancy McQuaide, Julie Barlett.
In addition to her parents, Susie was preceded in death by brother John McQuaide, sister in-law Monteen McQuaide, brother Allen McQuaide, daughter in-law Julie Fidler, and niece Judy McQuaide.
Susie’s request was to be cremated and have no visitation. She wanted her loved ones to remember the good times!
