Steve J. Schneider

Steve J. Schneider, 63, formerly of Franklin, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at his recent home in FL.

The son of the late Renwick Charles and Elizabeth Jane Harper Schneider, Steve was born at Oil City Hospital on November 17, 1961.

Steve graduated from Oil City Area Senior High School and later attended Clarion University and graduated from University of Pittsburgh with a BS in Electrical Engineering.

In 1980, Steve met his future wife, Ann, and they were married in 1992 by Pastor Dean Hughes.

After college, Steve was employed with Raytheon Company and then AK Steel. Subsequently, he was employed at Merisol/Sasol, OC for 22 years. This was his favorite place of employment excelling in his field. Most recently, Steve was employed at Hydro-Extrusions, St. Augustine.

He attended Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin and Hammock Community Church in FL. Steve offered his time volunteering with Christian and community programs including MEGA Sports Camp and Franklin Little League Board.

As a volunteer coach, Steve passionately devoted his time, athletic talent, and leadership. He strived to push young athletes to develop their full potential. Steve coached numerous teams including OC YMCA Swim Team, Franklin T-Ball, Little League, Jr. & Sr. League, Pleasantville Jr. & Sr. League, RG Jr. Legion, and OC Sr. Legion.

Steve was an outdoorsman who loved hiking, biking, hunting, fishing, canoeing, and swimming. A highlight of Steve’s year was always planning a wonderful family vacation. Also, he was a master of electrical repair and enjoyed being a fix it man. Steve, along with his wife, owned Schneider Construction. Steve built three beautiful homes for his family as well as remodeling homes and building furniture.

Steve is survived by his devoted wife, Ann Marie Schneider, and their children, whom he loved dearly; Breck L. Schneider, Colton J. Schneider, and Aubria J. Schneider, all formerly of Franklin and residing in FL. Siblings include; Michael (Nancy) Schneider, NC, Thomas Schneider, MI, Gerald (Rosi) Schneider, Fertigs, Louise (Ken) Best, Erie, Dr. John (Becky) Schneider, OH, Mary Beth (Gene) Detrich, OH, David Scheider, OC, Renwick C. “Charlie” Schneider, OC, Christopher (Julie) Schneider, OC, Kim (Dr. Scott) Kahney, TX. Additionally surviving is a brother in-law, William Gatesman, OC, and numerous special nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Renwick C. and Elizabeth J. Schneider, two siblings, Gregory Schneider and Karen Gatesman, three cherished nephews, parents-in-law Jack D. and Mary D. Whitman, and brother in-law Jeffrey Whitman.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin, PA 16323 where family and friends will be received from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Friday.

On Saturday at 11:00 AM a funeral service will take place at Christ Church Franklin 1135 Buffalo St., Franklin with Rev. Dr. Darrell Greenawalt officiating. A funeral luncheon will take place immediately after in the church's Heritage Hall.
