Thomas A. Brown, 84, formerly of 221 Cherry Lane, Franklin died at 5:00 a.m. Friday August 24, 2012 at the Caring Place.
A son of John R. and Louise Laniger Brown he was born in Greenville on August 24, 1928. He was a graduate of Greenville High School.
A veteran of the Korean War he served with the U.S. Army in England.
Mr. Brown had worked at several local grocery stores in Franklin before working in the laundry at Polk Center for almost 15 years.
He had been a member of the Franklin Moose lodge. He enjoyed word search puzzles and was an avid Pirate and Steeler fan.
He is survived by three daughters Susan M. Brown of Oil City, Sally Shaughnessy and her husband John of Venus, and Julie Roemer and her husband Alan of Franklin; 9 grandchildren Michael Roemer, Darrellyn Warfield and her husband Lee, Darla Miller and her husband Jim, Jayne Mitchell and her husband Brandon, Josiah Roemer Kelly and his fiancé Stephanie, Angela Goodman and her fiancé Phil, Brad Poling and his wife Heather, Julie Simpson and her husband Matt and Robert Poling; 16 great-grandchildren Bailey, Jacob, Joseph, and Ashanta Mitchell, Caleb and Cayden Kelly, Christopher and Zachary Roemer, Jamie, Lee Jr. and Nikole Warfield, Ashlee Archer, Bryce Goodman, Kyle Poling, and Charlie and Jack Simpson; 1 great-great-grandson Nathaniel Levi Roemer. Also surviving is a brother Jack Brown of Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Alan Thomas Roemer Kelly.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in The Caring Place, 103 N. 13th Street, Franklin with the Rev. Linda Deeter, chaplain officiating.
Interment will follow is St. Patrick Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.
