Thomas R. "T.J." Cox Jr., 37, of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2024 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born in Ventura, CA on October 26, 1986, he was the son of Tom Sr. and Tyla (Corrales) Cox.
He was a graduate of Oil City High School and then New Castle School of Trades.
T.J. was huge on family and helping others when he could in any way. He enjoyed helping and supporting his children in their various activities. His passion for fabrication led to many things, including, custom building smokers and cookers and also cooking on them. He enjoyed nature photography. T.J. always enjoyed a good cookout and sitting around a fire.
T.J. married the former Melissa Mahood on July 12, 2014 and she survives. Also surviving are his children: Justeyn Winner, Landon Winner and Kayleb Cox; In-laws: Tom and Kim Mahood, Ron and Trish Beers, Steve West and family; siblings: Nina Cox, Irene White, Josh Cox (Becky), Erin Bell, Kyle Cox, Ashlyn (Joe Jacobson), David Cox. In-laws: Julie Alvarez, Frankie Mahood, Mariah Rider, John (Ali) Mahood. He is also survived by his grandparents: Martha and Randy Welshans, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Thomas was the owner and operator of Smokehouse Fabrications in Franklin.
Through the Center for Organ Recovery and Education, (CORE) T.J. is able to continue his helping of others through multiple donations.
There will be no visitation.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
