William A. Henderson

William A. Henderson, 86, of Rocky Grove, passed away at 2:43 A.M. Tuesday August 18, 2015 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.

Born August 11, 1929 in Franklin he was a son of the late Carl M. and Elizabeth Bennett Henderson.

He was a graduate of Franklin High School and Clarion University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Teaching.

Bill taught for 35 years in the Franklin School District.

He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and a former member of the Cranberry Lions Club, the Mall Walkers club and the Seneca Senior Center.

When he was able, he enjoyed gardening, bowling, hunting, traveling, camping, boating, his family and spending winters in Florida.

He served stateside in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

On August 23, 1952 he married the former Marjorie Shraer and she survives.

Also surviving are three sons; Timothy Henderson and his wife Carole of Polk, Richard Henderson and his wife Melinda of Franklin and Theodore Henderson of Franklin.

Additionally surviving are five grandchildren; Leslie Henderson, Nicholas Henderson, Joe Henderson and his wife Sherrie, Eric Henderson and Renae Henderson; three great grandchildren, Robert William Henderson, Logan Blake Henderson and Halie Halberg and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He was preceded in death by three brothers; Robert Henderson, Carl Henderson, and Eugene Henderson and three sisters, Elaine Hughes, Ruth Ann Hughes and Elsie Rogers and his step-father, Charles Powers.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gary Atkinson, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow at Peters Cemetery.
