William E. Collins

William E. Collins, 64 of 210 11th St., Franklin passed away early Thursday morning on May 3, 2012 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca after a two year battle with colon cancer.



He was born April 2, 1948 in Franklin to the late Merle Everett and Quitera Adaline Collins.



He was a 1966 graduate of Franklin High School.



After high school, he served in the US Army. He was also a Vietnam Veteran and he took great pride in serving his country.



He worked for 31 years at Polk Center as a nursing aid and ground maintenance. He was also a volunteer firefighter for Seneca Volunteer Fire Department for a number of years.



He enjoyed painting, collecting military, Salvation Army and sports memorabilia. He also enjoyed photography and loved taking photographs at the Franklin High School football games and of many historical landmarks. Mr. Collins was very active in civil war reenactments.



He was married on April 14, 1984 at the First United Methodist Church to the former Christine Elizabeth Miller, who survives.



Also surviving is a daughter Quitera ?Tara? Collins of Franklin, and Cousins Patricia Faller of Chicora and Cinda Gander of Stoneboro.



In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an aunt, Ella Mae Snyder.



At his request, there will be no visitation or services.



Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff Chapel Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin.
