William L. (Bill) McCauley, 93, of Franklin, passed away September 26, 2014 at UPMC Northwest, Seneca.
A son of Earl and Katherine McCauley he was born in Franklin on April 3, 1921. He was a graduate of Franklin High School.
During World War II Bill served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a gunner on a B17 which was shot down and he spent time as a detainee in Sweden.
For over 30 years he was employed as a machinist at Joy Manufacturing.
He was a member of the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, golf and spending time with his family.
On December 15, 1945 he married the former Lorraine Johnson who survives along with two sons Roger McCauley and his wife Ann of Franklin and Michael McCauley and his wife Patty of Polk. Also surviving are three grandchildren Mary Ann McCauley of Pittsburgh, Ellen Shidemantle and her husband Brian of Harrisonburg, VA, and Josh McCauley of Franklin.
There will be no public visitation. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services with pastor Sue Nageotte of Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church officiating.
Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.
